Supporting employment of disabled citizens ranks among the priorities of the state’s comprehensive employment policy in both Hungary and Slovakia.
The current system of care for disabled citizens in the area of employment in both countries is based on a system of legal regulations concerning protection for disabled citizens in employment, creating prerequisites for work by that group of citizens, and offering incentives to promote their employment.
The purpose of the activity was an exchange of experiences between staff of various institutions of the two countries which deal with issues of labour market opportunities for disabled citizens.
The participants in the three-day seminar came from: the Labour Centre of the Fejér county government office; the detached office in Komárom; the service centre with the Labour Centre of the Fejér county government office; the detached office in Tatabánya; HELP, a rehabilitation and public benefit non-profit employer organization; MEMFÓ spol. s r.o.; the head office of the Labour, Social Affairs and Family Office in Bratislava; the Centre for Social and Labour Rehabilitation with the Institute for Labour Rehabilitation of Disabled Citizens in Bratislava; the Komárno branch of the Slovakia’s Social Insurance agency; sheltered workshops, namely from the companies DEVIKA s.r.o and Grantek s.r.o.; the EURES-T Danubius cross-border partnership; and the Office of Labour, Social Affairs and Family in Komárno.
Stage 1: 11 March 2011 – A specialised seminar, a visit to employers with sheltered workshops in Slovakia Employment services and employment of citizens with disabilities in Slovakia were presented by MS Božena Igliarová from the head office of the Labour, Social Affairs and Family Office in Bratislava and MS Zuzana Harcsová from the Office of Labour, Social Affairs and Family in Komárno.
Visits to two sheltered employment facilities in the Komárno district were made in the afternoon hours.
Stage 2: 18 March 2011 – Visit to the Institute for Labour Rehabilitation for Disabled Persons in Bratislava Participants in the seminar had the opportunity to visit classrooms, training rooms and the additional premises of the Social and Labour Rehabilitation Centre during their visit to the Institute for Labour Rehabilitation for Disabled Persons in Bratislava. Ivan Číž from the Social and Labour Rehabilitation Centre gave the presentation.
Stage 3: 24 March 2011 – A presentation by Hungarian partners, a visit to the rehabilitation centre in Tata, a visit to employers employing citizens with disabilities The last day of the activity was devoted to presentation of labour rehabilitation services under the national employment services in Hungary and in Komárom-Esztergom County and the services provided by the Hungarian labour offices. Presentations were given by Mr. Katona József from the Labour Office of the Fejér county government office, the Komárom detached office, and by MS Mónika Zölde from the Rehabilitation Office and Employment Services Office in Tatabánya. Two employers who employ disabled citizens were visited in the afternoon hours. The exchange of experiences between staff of all these institutions of the two countries is a good foundation for mutual cooperation of all stakeholders in coming years.
