In September and October 2010 several job, information and education fairs were held in the EURES-T Danubius cross-border partnership region in connection with this European-wide event.
Significant emphasis was given to extensive promotion of the fairs. The public was informed through newspaper advertisements, posters and radio spots.
We wanted to involve almost all of the partnership’s micro regions. For that reason we sought an effective, large-scale campaign within the framework of the European job opportunities programme for 2010.
Drawing from good experience in previous years and in accordance with the needs of the selected target groups and the current situation in the labour market, the partnership organized four job, information and education fairs for unemployed persons and for job seekers from Slovakia and Hungary.
The fairs aimed at supporting labour mobility in the Slovak-Hungarian border regions through transfer of necessary knowledge about the labour market, offering opportunities for meetings and establishment of personal contacts between interested parties, disseminating information about further educational opportunities in both countries and abroad, offering free job and educational counselling, and presenting the services offered by public labour offices in both countries. Altogether 98 employer organizations from Slovakia and Hungary which had 2,685 job vacancies as well as 79 secondary and higher education schools participated in these jobs fairs attended by 2,719 students and 5,296 other interested persons.
